Chiropractic care to get rid of Plantar Fasciitis

Foot pain can be particularly frustrating to deal with.

And because we use our feet to get a lot of things done–avoiding foot pain can be a task. In fact, according to IPMA (Illinois Podiatric Medical Association), over 75% of all Americans may have some form of foot pain at one point in their lives.

Now, Plantar Fasciitis is among the most common foot conditions. They can get incredibly painful and chronic if not treated in time. So, if you are looking for treatment options, this blog may be of help.

What might cause plantar fasciitis? What does this condition mean? And more importantly- How can chiropractic care be the answer?

Have a read-

The condition and its causes

For those who wish to know-

The plantar fascia is the ligament that connects your toes to the heel of the foot. And plantar fasciitis is caused when this ligament gets weak or swollen. You might be experiencing a sharp pain at the heel or bottom of the foot when walking; especially after sitting down for a long time. Plantar fasciitis is the reason.

Although this can happen to anyone at any age, it is more common among middle-aged people. But your age may not be the only trigger-

  • Increased activity; A lot of standing or walking

  • Poor or old footwear

  • Your foot “mechanics”. Flat feet, high arcs, or poor walking posture may put stress on the plantar fascia

  • Obesity or sudden weight gain

  • Misalignments in the spine

There can be many complications of living with plantar fasciitis. A big one as you might already know–is the debilitating pain that comes with it. It may keep getting harder to get through the day. And in some cases, patients sub-consciously “alter” their walking style to help with the pain; and this opens up new problems around their hips, back, or knees.

There are zero reasons for us to go there.

Chiropractic care as the answer

There is no better start to recovery–than helping your body heal naturally.

Chiropractic therapy is non-invasive and involves close to no medications. And for several patients around, chiropractic care has been an incredibly effective solution to plantar fasciitis.

Our treatment will mainly revolve around correcting your spine; primarily because misalignments in the spine are a big cause of tension in the fascia. Gentle adjustments and spinal corrections will help remove fascial stress in the entire body–thus addressing the root of the problem.

Also, chiropractic is a tool for pain management before anything else. Gentle adjustments and massages to the heel and foot may help take pressure off the plantar fascia–allowing it to relax, and reducing pain.

Regardless of the method I use, one big part of my job will be to help recovery start from you. In my office, I will walk you through some lifestyle changes or basic exercises that can help speed up healing. Do you have good posture? Are you walking properly? What are the activities you do in a day?

I will be on a total lookout.

Yes, to recovery

If you have other treatment options lined up, please do go ahead. Regardless of what it is, chiropractic care can be a great complement to it. The whole point of chiropractic therapy is to speed up your recovery, improve mobility, and bring you out of pain.

Just make sure you are not living with this condition. If you have any concerns about your foot pain or the treatment options in hand, you may send us a word. At Lotus Chiropractic Care, Dr. Tanvi Desai will assess your condition and guide you through the next step.
